County Executive Ike Leggett has announced the resignation of County Attorney Leon Rodriguez as he will become the Chief of Staff/Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the federal Justice Department's Office of Civil Rights. We reprint the County Executive's statement below.
In an interesting side note, Rodriguez will be working for former Montgomery County Council Member and Maryland Labor Secretary Tom Perez. Council Member Duchy Trachtenberg appealed to Perez for "guidance" after Rodriguez searched work computers used by her aide, Dana Beyer. That search prompted Trachtenberg to compare the Leggett administration to the KGB. Will Rodriguez now be answering Trachtenberg's letter about Rodriguez?
