D4 Election Results

With 37 of the district's 45 precincts counted, Navarro is up 2,689-2,037 over Kramer. That's a margin of 49.58%-37.56%. So far, 5,424 Democratic primary votes have been cast compared to 7,658 cast last year. If another 2,000 votes were cast and 10% of those votes went to candidates other than Kramer and Navarro, Kramer would need 61% of the remaining 1,800 votes to catch Navarro. That seems extremely unlikely.

Robin Ficker is blowing away the other two Republicans with 61% of the vote at the moment. He is a sure winner of the Republican nomination.

It would appear that negative campaigns do in fact work.

I guess we'll all remember that in future campaigns.

At near last call on the counting, it would appear that I have achieved a votes-per-dollar rate of one vote per dollar.

As Montgomery County elections are no longer a contest of ideas, but of publicity machine, in terms of efficiency, I had by far the most efficient machine... just little old me, going to forums and putting my thought into the marketplace of ideas. My campaign machine consisted of personal appearances, and me and myself along handing out approximately 2000 small and unpretentious flyers at local shopping centers and mom-and-pop eateries.

One can only wonder how far I might have gone if I'd been able to spend tens of thousands of dollars, and had been able to field the immense "chittering horde" of the Navarro Machine, back by both Unions and Developers on a scale and depth of expenditure not seen since Doug Duncan's heyday. One might also wonder how far I might have gone had I the political connections going back a full generation and more in both Montgomery and State of Maryland politics which attached themselves to the Kramer Campaign.

Yet I pride myself on the fact that both Ben Kramer and Nancy Navarro needed quite a lot of money to get them every vote they got... and all I had was me, and my message: I won't increase your taxes, and I will cut wasteful spending.

One dollar per vote.

Well, I should just take a breath, and move on. At all times I will remember that the best thing about Democracy is that the majority gets what they deserve.

Are you deserving?
