Kramer Endorsed by Leggett, Trachtenberg (Updated)

We hear that County Executive Ike Leggett and County Council Member Duchy Trachtenberg endorsed Delegate Ben Kramer (D-19) in the District 4 special election at an event in Leisure World today. Also in attendance were former County Executive Sid Kramer and District 14 Senator Rona Kramer (Ben Kramer's father and sister), Alison Klumpp (the Praisners' daughter), Delegate Luiz Simmons (D-17) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Joe Vallario (D-27A).

Update: Check out Ann Marimow's coverage, in which Ben Kramer says he will be a "conduit" for Leggett on the council.

Update 2: The Gazette also reported on the event.

All the folks mentioned in this post, except Joe Vallario who doesn't live in Montgomery County, opposed the passage of Question B in November. Question B requires 9 council votes to exceed the charter property tax limit. Question B passed countywide and in District 4.

We already have 8 council members who have voted to exceed the charater property tax limit by 400%. Why do we need a 9th? The homeowner can't stand being used as an ATM any longer.

All of the people who have been chanting "tool for Developers" will be chanting it more loudly, now.

I don't know. All of these endorsements from all of these special interest groups, is it really anything positive to claim endorsements? Because, in a lot of cases, that means you're trading your committment to the People of District 4, and replacing it with committment to the people that endorse.

Great if you're a Special Interest, not so great if you're one of the People of District 4 who stands mostly to get the shaft from the Special Interests, in the same way they've been getting it for the last many years.
