Our spy network reports that the Metropolitan Washington AFL-CIO decided its County Council endorsements last night. The news has not been formally released yet, but the word is that the labor federation endorsed:

District 2: Craig Rice
District 3: None
District 4: Nancy Navarro
District 5: Valerie Ervin
At-Large: Marc Elrich, Nancy Floreen, George Leventhal, Hans Riemer
Executive: Ike Leggett
And so the streak recorded by Berliner, Elrich and Riemer remains alive.

CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVED AT THE JULY 19, 2010 METRO COUNCIL DELEGATE MEETING
NO POSITION means the MWC AFL-CIO takes no position in a race, leaving locals free to make their own decisions about candidates
NO ENDORSEMENT means the MWC AFL-CIO opposes a candidate’s endorsement and encourages locals to refrain from making any endorsement of that candidate.
NO RECOMMENDATION means the MWC AFL-CIO has nothing to say about a given race.
ENDORSEMENT of a candidate(s) requires a 2/3 majority.
To be considered for endorsement, candidates must have returned a completed questionnaire by the publicized deadline.

That means that in Montgomery County, the AFL-CIO only endorsed Democrats. I guess it's true that AFL-CIO=DEMOCRAT. I am so disappointed in labor.

This has been going on for years.
They support Democrats, even when they have a record of being anti-union.
I have been a union member for over 30 years and I can tell you , that most members do not support their endorsements.

Well this site is turning into a regular special-interest love in isn't it? Unfortunately I don't see much of interest to taxpayers here, but then none of the candidates being hyped here believe they need to look beyond the primaries so why bother with us?
Hopefully the candidates were at least a little bit cautious what they promised all the unions and other groups in exchange for their gold stars because they are starting to run out of other people's money.

Carla McClinton wants to improve awareness of the services offered by the Prince George's County Office of the Register of Wills to provide better help during the death of a loved one — an experience she has endured and hopes to make less difficult for others.
McClinton, who is running for the register of wills position, said she will embark on a public relations campaign to encourage more people to register their wills with the office so their wishes can be carried out after they die.
McClinton, 51, of Clinton said she wants to send representatives to community meetings around the county to speak about the services the office provides.
She also would like to expand the hours the office accepts paperwork to make it easier for residents to file documents. Currently, the office accepts paperwork from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
She has worked as a licensed Realtor for 20 years and for various legal firms and organizations doing either legal research or marketing for 30 years. Both jobs require expertise that would be used as register of wills, she said.
