One of our smartest spies noted how interesting it was that Governor Martin O’Malley’s campaign released internal poll results showing his holding a ten-point lead over former Governor Bob Ehrlich on the very same day that Stu Rothenberg downgraded the Maryland Governor race from Safe Democrat to Narrow Advantage for Democrat. We do not believe this is a coincidence. O’Malley’s campaign may have known that Rothenberg’s downgrade was coming and tried to dominate the newsday. It worked as far as the Post was concerned, since it covered O’Malley’s poll but not Rothenberg’s change. All of this means that O’Malley is taking Ehrlich’s increasingly likely run VERY seriously and is shrewdly playing the media accordingly.
Update: Twenty hours after this post went up, the Post recognized Rothenberg’s analysis. Of course, this blog had nothing to do with that.

I still think Ehrlich should wait 4 more years.
If Ehrlich wins- there is little he could do to solve the crisis the state is currently experiencing-.
I also doubt if a Democratic Assembly will help Ehrlich achieve any goals he may have in mind.
Ehrlich should sit out this race and wait- he is still young- and if he were to run and lose- his career in politics would be over-two time losers seldom have a third chance .
