Big day for endorsements. The powerful Baltimore Sun issued its recommendations for the state legislative districts for Baltimore County.
Meanwhile, former Prince George's County Executive Wayne Curry endorsed former Del. Rushern Baker in his challenge to Curry's successor, incumbent County Executive Jack Johnson. A big boost to Baker's bid that no doubt will cement the enmity between Curry and Johnson as an enduring feature of Prince George's politics.
The same article reports that Rep. Ben Cardin picked up the valuable support of state Sen. Ulysses Currie and other local officials in Prince George's County. Any inroads that Cardin makes into Prince George's County's black vote make it hard for former Rep. Kweisi Mfume to win the nomination so I am sure that Cardin is glad to gain their support. Even if the endorsements only gain Cardin a few votes, they put pressure on Mfume to defend his base in the campaign's final days.
